Yes
I went out for a walk earlier on with my Nikon digital camera to see what the flooding is like in my area. A year ago parts of cirencester flooded so bad near my flat that it made it down to the main road. I just hope the rain stops before it gets bad as it did last year as near me there is a couple of sheltered accommodation places for the elderly that were badly affected last year. I thought i would share a few grab shots from the effect of the river churn having recently burst its banks.

Blimey! that's not good!
Stay safe!

Yes you could say that those photos were taken earlier on today and it's only a 5 minute walk from my flat.

I love floods, but them I love on a hill ;) it's no fun for those that it affects :( lets hope the rain leaves for a little bit...at least all the spring flowers will get a good watering hopefully we'll then get a good display to photograph :D

Floods fascinate me as well but I do feel for those people it affects, last time the floods hit us the old folks home was without power for 48 hours. I am lucky my flat is above a row off garages so it would take some serious rainfall before I am affected.

It's amazing what nature can do as the river churn is normally just a very small trickle in the summer months. It's amazing how it transforms it's self in only a short space off time.

Oh indeed, I remember sitting on the banks of the river wye a few years back doing a bit of chub fishing and while it wasn't raining where I was it was upstream and I could literally see the water level rising over the space of a few hours I was there it rose close to 2 ft

Seems to be a lot of houses in this country built on risky areas.

Decimation of flood plains will do it every time ;)
The clue is in the name - flood plain - a plain where the floods come!!!! All that happens if they build on them is to spread the water further and affect more people.

The funniest thing I ever saw was a few years ago when MK was rapidly expanding,
I wasn't really into photography then, but I wish I had a camera...

Imagine the scene,
The River Gt Ouse, surrounded by fields with a "new houses coming soon" bill board in the field.

It was a time of heavy rains, similar to now, but not as bad IIRC.
The bill board had water half way up it.
The houses were never built :D

Yeah that sounds about right...

One of my biggest bug bears has to be the river has "burst it banks" that rarely happens in this green and pleasant land as we don't have that many dykes etc

quiet a few up this way ,used to take them home in the taxi on saturday nights :exit:

Fingerscrossed for you then Mandy, horrible worrying and waiting I bet. :nailbiting:

It is for them closer to it I am ok my flats above garages so it take a serious amount of water before I need to start panicking. The only thing I worry about is my motorbike as that's outside close to where the road flooded badly last year.

Just be thankful you don't live in Tewkesbury! Drove through Cirencester and cricklade earlier and it wasn't too bad. Certainly been a lot worse.
