When looking through the photo critique and sharing section it can take some time to catch up due to the number of postings from the increased membership.
I much prefer to have the images spring to my eyes immediately on clicking on that thread especially if it is a series of images, makes comparing much easier and instant. Unless it is something I really want to view I just go on to the next thread rather than navigate any further to see the pics.
Is there a technical reason for some images to be posted via a Flikr link, or is it just about the poster saving time uploading to the forum.

How do others feel ?

Well I post up the medium image (500 pixels) wide with a link to the larger version.

I suspect others just post up the link to the larger image. I agree that it is time consuming to see all the pics in a thread like this.

Must admit that I am less likely to look at the pics if they are links, especially when there are 9 or 10 of them. Suppose it's a little unfair but I think, in general, people don't like to have to click on links, then close a window and click on the next link. Also can be a bit of a pain if you're reading replies and constantly have to reclick on links in order to equate the comments/critique.

All IMHO of course! ;)

I prefer people to put the images IN the post instead, makes it much easier :)

ditto.

I dont click links to images unless it's to view a larger one, or on a rare occassion if it's been getting rave reviews I click to see what all the fuss is about.

I don`t click links either.

If its a link to a bigger version of an image thats already there, then that's perfectly fine IMO
