Flashgun Problem - Nissin Di622

I've had this flashgun for a while now, and it always worked fine. However Ive recently started working at a nightclub taking photos, and last night I started to have problems with it. It would fire for about 40ish shots, then it would just stop firing, and the only way i could get it to work again was to turn it off, take it off the hot shoe, and then put it back on. It would then work for another 40ish shots then I would have to do the same again. Very frustrating when you've got a group of drunken revellers waiting to have their photo taken. The batteries were fully charged before i started. Anyone have any ideas what might have caused this? I'm working tonight as well so I'm hoping it won't be doing the same again.

Is it over heating? Some guns have a thermal cut-out - that's the only thing I can think of. But you usually have to switch them off for ten minutes.

Were you blasting away at full power? If you think that might be it, then raising the ISO or reducing the f/number one stop will require only half the power for correct exposure. Should handle that no problem.
