hiya, i have got a jessops 360afd flashgun. it's ok and does the job till i have the cash for an SB900

got a couple of questions if i may as im new to flash photography

my flash has iso, f/stop settings. what do these do exactly? i have got my camera on tripod at the moment and going through all the settings on the flash to try and learn what they do etc. i have my camera (D7000) in manual with 1/125 at F8 iso 100 exposure comp 0

when i adjust the iso or f/stop on the flash to something different than what the camera is, it doesn't make any difference

i understand the power settings 1/1 1/2 1/4 1/8 1/16 increase the power output but am stuck with the iso and f/stop do you use these when you have your flash in manual or should the just be set to the same as what the camera is so the flash knows what the camera is doing as it's not in ttl

thanks in advance guys/gals

Danny

Setting the aperture settings and ISO settings on the flash, will give an indication of working distance on the display. We used to use it a lot a few decades ago, because before that, we had to work it out using the guide number.
Forget about them
Ain't used them in donkey's

nice one, thanks for that m8

So i set the power on the flash to what i think i should be and adjust the camera as normal lowering or raising the flash power if needed?
