Hi all
not sure if this is the right place for my question but here goes.....

I've got a Nissin 360w flash thingy(not sure of it's right name) that I've used on the hotshoe of a D80 & D90 with no problem . Can't get it to work on the D7000 though , anybody got any suggestions as to why not ?
Do I need a different unit for the D7000 ?

Cheers

Although I couldn't find the specific 'thingy' on the Nissin website....maybe it needs a firmware update?

Neil.

Cheers Neil

had a tele con with my local Nikon dealer about said issue & mentioned about the firmware update ....think my problem maybe that the unit is way too old for the camera ( it came with my D80 which was at least 2 years old when I got it) . So , next purchase will be a new flash gun thingy :)

appreciate your reply

Hi Lynne

I started with a D80 and now have a D7000. Did not have a flash gun thingy but decided that I wanted to try some off camera flash, using the commander mode of the D7000. Bought a SB600 off the forum as being the cheapest Nikon compatible thingy. It is really good and so portable with the D7000 on tripod and move the thingy anywhere in your hand to get different effects. Would recommend it.

Cheers Alan...glad you understand my technical lingo

A bit more digging & Nissin have confirmed the 360WX isn't compatible so time to spend yet more money !

I've asked a mod if they can relocate this thread to the Lighting section for me so hopefully I'll get some more advice & info

Nissin very kindly mailed me the latest compatability list today....Di866 & Di622 both MKII are compatible...just checked prices...wasn't hoping to spend quite that much as I only tend to use it for outdoor macro stuff .

Any of you more experienced "flash" guys n gals have any other suggestions for something suitable ? Do quite like the idea of the unit rotating as well as tilting

thanks in advance
