I now need a new flash unit for my 600D. Iam considering either a Nissin, or Canon. Both appear to be excellent items. I don't need the power of the Nissin 866 Mk11, or the big Canon units. Is there any advantage of te Canon 460ex Mk11 over the Nissin 622 Mk11? Any recommendations very welcome:thinking:

I have 622 Mkii myself, can't say I've ever had any trouble with it, very reliable and fast recycling. Plus you get a more powerful flash. Can't say I have ever done a side-by side comparison however

Hi David. Thanks for your reply. I don't know anyone with the Canon gun, so still looking.

ive just ordered a yungnuo 468 II hope it will do me for occasional use

Hi Peter, I had a Di622 MkI which was excellent when it was used with a 550D and a 7D. It did start having compatibility issues when I got a 650D and a 60D though but generally it was a fantastic performer. The Di622 MkII is compatible with all the newest bodies though so you wont have any problems with it. For the price they are an excellent flash, really well made, fast cycling and very powerful. A decent set of batteries seems to last longer in the Nissin compared to Canon guns as well, I got 800+ shots from a set whereas the Canon goes after about 600 shots.

I have a Nissin Di866 MkII and a Canon 580EX II and TBH there's not much between them in features. I usually use the 580 on my 5D3 and the 866 MkII on my 7D, the Canon does seem better on E-TTL settings, although when the Di866 is on auto setting it acts more like E-TTL anyway. I also use the Nissin as off camera flash set off by the Canon and that can also be set up on the Di622 as well, which is very handy for creative purposes.

Yongnuo flashes are great for getting to grips with a flash or even if you don't have a big budget. I've had my YN-468 for 3 and a half years and it's not missed a beat. Still use it regularly, and will probably get the YN-565/8 as my upgrade.

Hi Stuart, thanks for your detailed info. I'm certain I've made my mind up now with your help. Also, thanks to Andrew. I'd never thought of the Yongnuo flashguns? I will have a read up. This help is really appreciated.
