Flash trigger for A7iii with Sony HVL-F46RM flash?

No
I need to buy a flash trigger so that I can use my Sony HVL-F46RM flashgun off-camera with my Sony A76iii.

From what I can gather my only option is the rather expensive Sony FA-WRC1M that cost around £265 in the UK at the cheapest.

I’m not fussed about having full control from the trigger on camera, happy to walk back to the actual flashgun to change settings then walk back to camera to take photo. I’ll. Be working in full manual outdoors so don’t need TTL or any other sort of control, just something that will fire the flash when it is off camera.

Needs to be Sony A7iii compatible though, course, but just not the Sony one as I only paid £200 for the flash used, boxed, hardly used so spending £265 on the remote is nuts. There must be a cheaper option given I don’t need any fancy controls or features.

I seem to remember a friend using a Yongnuo 560 iv with a Yongnuo off camera trigger with a Sony, cant remember which Sony he had now. The flashes go from about £50 off hand on ebay. Yje triggers go for around the £30+ mark from what I've seen. They are decent enough manual flashes, I think the guide numbers around 60?

I don't need a flash, already have the Sony, just need trigger for it.

As is usually the answer these days when talking flash, use Godox.
For the flash, you want an XTR-S,

For the camera you then need a Sony fit Godox Trigger
There are a few options; X1T-S, X2T-S, XPro-S, XProii-S
The XT1 is the old one, it will do what you want, but may be harder to get - probably the X2T-S is the best option;

The added bonus is that if you want to add additional off-camera flash in future, you can simply get Godox units (which are cheaper than the Sony equivalents), and have the compatible receiver built in (IE the one Godox trigger you buy can control the receiver unit AND a bunch of Godox flash at the same time).

Thanks, Faldrax. I'm just not a fan of Godox flash products, had a few in the past and found the plastic hotshot breaks off, busted two of them, even treating them with kid gloves so build quality is garbage. Looks like I'll just have to spend £275 on the Sony one – at least I know it will work and should be built well.

It shouldn't be an issue with the Trigger, as it's not got the mass of a full sized flash, so the force on the hotshoe is much less.
The old plastic ones were actually designed to break, and were a user replaceable item - the idea being that it was much better for a cheap, easily replaceable part of the flash to break than to damage the hotshoe mount on the camera, whihc could lead to an expensive repair of the camera (and associted time without the camera while waiting for it to be repaired).

Godox V1 is the worse. Hotshot breaks off and is not repairable and Godox won't modify it with a metal through design like 'proper' flashguns.

Regarding just the trigger system, way too confusing trying to figure out what parts I need on the Godox site, hence easier just to buy the Sony as I know what I need.

V1 replacement hotshoe £19 from Amazon.

Not sure why you are confused about trigger and receiver - there's only one option for the receiver (which I provided a link for), and while there is a choice of three possible triggers, the cheapest / simplest version is probably what you need, and I provided a link to that. Total cost from Amazon £85, compared to £265 for the Sony trigger.

Godox have also modified the mount on latest models so hopefully less issues with mounts breaking
