Hi all,

my macro's are in need of light (currently use the onboard) and was thinking of getting the sigma ring flash, as it got a good write up in a mag a few months back, but i also want to use a flash for other things, and thinking a ring one would cast a halo round the object? so should i invest in something like a speedlite 530exII instead?

thanks for any suggestions
Jason

I used my 430 ex mk2 Jason the other day for macro and every shot i pointed the light at was totally washed out. I think there are some macro rig suggestions and pictures on another thread on here somewhere so you'll get some good ideas from there. Just thought i should mention i am a total novice and was also using my Sigma 105 Macro for the first time too.

I'd go for a 580exII and a ring adaptor, which gives good portrait and macro light, maybe buy some triggers and a stand and a brolly for portraits off camera

Can you purchase the ring flash adapters for a 430 ex mk2?

As long as your not going for big magnifications a diffused speedlight will work fine for macro and you get a normal flash as well.

150mm sigma with 550ex mounted on the Camera with bottom of a milk bottle stuck on flash. testing the MK1 blue Peter diffuser !
