Yes
I bought a couple of Hama slave units and I can't seem to get them to work.

The mail reason for buying them was to use my flash guns to light my backdrop for high key shots and use my studio flash unit for the subjects. They are on mini tripods but neither of them will fire the flash. Am I missing something really basic or just being uber thick?

Do the flashguns have to be set to 'Slave' mode?

Sounds a silly question .... are they totally hidden from the main triggering flash? My experience of them is they're pretty responsive. You never know though...:(

Re- reading your post..... why do you need the sensor/triggers when you could use the CLS mode of the SB x00 speedlights?

I've just discovered that one of them is faulty and doesn't work at all, the other one is fine now.

why do you need the sensor/triggers when you could use the CLS mode of the SB x00 speedlights?

I find that system so complex to set up and use (I know, it's just me!) and I don't want to use the on camera flash as the master.

Ah well, only an idea. I must admit it is a bit involved but the results are something else. Don't regret the time I've spent working CLS out ;)

I know, I know. I will get round to it but I swear the SB800 manual was written by an alien. Just out of interest do you use the on camera flash as the master or do have one of those SU800 Master and Commander units?
