Yes
I need another flash unit solely for lighting the background, and don't really want to spend too much hard earned, it obviously won't be fitted to the camera just to an rf 602 receiver. Would I be ok getting something like a Sunpak 422/33d or a similar Vivitar that were used on the A1 AE1 F1 type film cameras, I would expect if it does work it might only in manual mode, but that wouldn't matter, any help please folks?

You need to check the trigger voltage rf602s are only rated at about 6 volts I have been getting away with 18 volt flashes but the Vivitar ones I tried killed a rf602 (the Vivitar was about 120 volt)

See this recent post and in particular check your flash against the table in my first reply but do read the whole thing for some inciteful info, even I learned something new and I hate admitting that.:naughty:

The table shows a voltage of 6v on the 422 so that will be fine on the Rf 602 (Thank you "Flash in the pan") and if you meant 333D for the other flash it is 2volt so again a
