Evening All!

I have what is probably the daftest question of the night, which will make you all roll your eyes, but I don't know where else to ask!!

I have a 400d, with a Jessops 300 AFD flash unit. I want to get hold of a (I think it's called) dome, or bounce diffuser for it, but don't know where to get one to fit. The Jessops site has one of the universal ones listed which looks like a pillow case type thing , but to be honest, I got one of those off flea-bay and it's a pain in the proverbial to get on an off and the results are bit hit and miss in my novice hands. Ebay has lots of the style of diffusers listed that I'd like, but of course there's not specifically for my flash. Grrrrrrr.

So, the question is - does anyone know if one made for another brand of flash will fit?????

(you are allowed to laugh by the way - I won't take offense  )

Thank you
Kristy

Thank you!

pm sent to you Flash! :)

Have you seen the Carex diffuser thread in the lighting section?

"99p stofen diffuser" I think it is titled.

A Carex handwash bottle is the right material, empty out soap, cut end off.

I have a Jessops 300fd flash, not the AFD, and to make it fit I have had to use some self adhesive velcro. Works really well and doesn't look daft either.

You don't need the 50% extra free bottle, just the standard size will do.

If the flash tilts then you could rig up a simple bounce card with a bit of white paper/card and an elastic band. Variations on a theme here (scroll down when you get there) - http://www.abetterbouncecard.com/

And you can buy the bits from hobbycraft if there's one near you. A sheet of white foam core costs about 50p.

I'm not trying to be funny but on my MT24-EX I've tried all sorts of diffusers from Stofen to Gary Fong. In the end I cut down a hankerchief and then used some elastic bands to keep it in place. Also used kitchen roll before and I'm still stuck between which one is best and both of them are miles ahead of these so called commercial diffusers. The only worry with the kitchen roll is that it may burn but a few years later and never had an instance of it occurring.
