Has anyone got any idea where i can get a Circuit diagram for different flashes?

Im looking into making a macro rig with a couple of adjustable small manual flash heads (No TTL ETC), with out the cost of the dedicated equivilents.

Really looking for a method of controlling flash power or duration ive been able to find basic triggering circuits but nothing that allows any adjustment.

There are sellers on Ebay that have the service manuals for various flashguns available on disk, would they they of any help?
 
I saw something similar done with lots of disposable camera flashes can be rigged up to be controllable if you calibrate it right
