Is there any difference between an off camera flash cable and using the wireless facility on flashes?
I've got a Nissin DI466 with wireless capability and i've also bought a cable.

Tricky question to answer without camera model and a link to that exact gun. Is it fully compatible the the camera's auto flash system when mounted in the hot shoe?

guessing the wireless capability is an optical trigger which means it fires when it sees a flash so everything must be in manual, though I can't be certain without details
