Where could you get a off camera flash bracket for a nikon?

You could get a rotating one so that when you use the camera vertically the flash comes from the top still and not the side of the subject.

There are many designs, shapes, sizes, prices, and at least two very different purposes (macro or people) for flash brackets to serve, so what is your budget and what are you intending to shoot with this flash bracket? I can't see that the camera brand makes a scrap of difference, although whether or not your camera is gripped might matter. Budget and purpose are far more important.

e.g. for big bucks - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MjqWuxedug

or this eBay cheapy that I have (same supplier too) - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Flash-Bracket...ories_CameraFlashUnits_JN?hash=item23020f40b6

and this, which I also have (different supplier) - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rotating-Came...ories_CameraFlashUnits_JN?hash=item2a04b66b1f

or this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhqjSzY5HcM&feature=related

and several in between.

This search should list more eBay brackets, including the ones I have - http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=...id=p3286.c0.m282&_mPrRngCbx=1&_udlo=12&_udhi=

The most common recommendation I have seen is for the Newton flash bracket, but they are not cheap - http://www.newtoncamerabrackets.com/default-old1.htm

So, how much do you want to pay and how small/light/durable/ergonomic do you want it to be?

Apologies Michael for jumping into this thread but a flash bracket is something I am considering.

I am wondering if anyone has tried the C-shape transform bracket as shown here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Transform-Fla...ories_CameraFlashUnits_JN?hash=item58861751f0. I am wondering just how to sturdy they are, and would they hold a Canon 430EX.

They're pretty sturdy, the standard coldshoe isn't great though

Thanks for that Flash - what coldshoe would you recommend then? What I aim to achieve is to get my flash over the top of my macro lens. Oh - and if I bought the double bracket can I just use half of it if necessary?

I'm swapping them out for the stroboframe type ones, they're much more secure. The double bracket is basially two of the C ones joined together and they an easily be split....
