Hi Guys,

Im doing my first wedding shoot this Saturday just for about 2 hours. Some in the chapel and some around other places. Its just a small wedding there wont be many people there. Its like a 2nd wedding a the guy got married in another country his wife is from. Any tips for me? Im bricking it a little!

Thanks

Hi. I did my first wedding a few weeks ago, that was REALLY small, only seven people total, one of which was four weeks old!

Try and get to the chapel beforehand. Check out the lighting and setup inside. The church I was at was small, I couldn't get down the side of the pews, so nipping round for different angles was impossible!
I spoke with the padre (military church) to ask what he did/ didn't want me to do and he was very helpful.
Also scout around outside for good spots. Shade from the sun, contingencies for bad weather, offending dustbins (that I forgot to move after spotting them) and so on!

Get your camera sorted early the night before, charge all batteries, clean gear, format cards. Then try and relax and sleep!

I am doing another wedding next month and feel so much better about it! The first one just felt so horribly awkward!

Good luck.

I did my first a couple of weeks ago, and I would say plan, plan, plan! Have a detailed shot list which you have agreed with the couple, know in your head what photos you are taking where and what poses, if any, you plan to use. Visit the venue beforehand and get a good picture of it in your head, including a wet weather plan. Know the timings and work with the venue to help the couple stick to them. Then on the day you can relax and enjoy it, knowing you are fully prepared. And don't forget your back-up camera, lenses and flash in case something fails.
