So I shot my first video while in Iceland a couple of weeks back. A mixture of shots from my D4s, D800e and GoPro, shooting both time-lapse and normal video, playing with different FPS etc.

You can check it our here -

I shot having read little about FPS only, just to get an idea of the different affects of high/low FPS. I then converted the time-lapse footage, and slowed down the higher FPS stuff with the GoPro software and stitched together using a trial of FCP-X.

Now, I really enjoyed the process. Thinking and looking at shots as I was driving around, and how ultimately I wanted the video to come out.

What I really want to do now is understand how everything comes together from in-camera, and understand how settings affect the shots, in much the same way as photography. I self-taught everything in photography but feel that actually there's much more to understand with the fundamentals with video so looking for suggestions on books, websites, blogs to get to grips with how something can affect another, and so on.

Thanks for your help

I quite liked that.
Well put together and a relevant sound track.
Two bits i wasn't sure about: A sunset about midway flashed up for little more than a second, when other shots are longer.
Near the end, about 2.28ish, the waterfall shot wasn't your strongest. I thought about how you would frame it in photography, probably on the right side of the frame rather than the left side because of the direction of flow.
Other than that, well done! Hope you enjoy your hobby :)
It's something I'd like to try.

Nice, I can't really offer any further film making tips but I thought the film was pretty good - as with photography, to shoot an interesting video you have to stand in front of interesting things, and I think you did pretty well on that part. I always sift through youtube for interesting film making tips, I find video much easier to digest than text, also vimeo itself has some good project ideas and tutorials, although it's been a while since I checked them out.
