Just got through my first roll of film in years, it must have been about ten years since I last used film. Went to the park with my film camera today, and I took some photos of my dog. The first frame went off nice and smooth, but after that about twice it missed a frame and avanced on. At frame 19 the film decided I had used all the exposures and rewound itself back in the canister. I was using Fujicolor 24 C200, I will take them in and get them processed.

Depending on how they turn out, I will run another roll through and see how that goes

It's often the way with old cameras, they need to be used and occasionally serviced.

Cheap film can be found in Poundland which is fine for testing cameras and cheap processing at some Tescos and Asdas.

But glad to see another film camera saved from the skip, post up the results when you get them back.

I must admin it was a nice experience hearing that stutter, and the lovely viewfinder it was a joy to use. Just hope I have captured at least a couple of decent shots, not sure though as skipped a few frames for some reason, and film did not run till the end

Just have to wait and see what the results are

Cameras that haven't been used for a while sometimes are a little quirky.

I have many that will "dry run" fine then decide to play up once i put film into them....often the shutter will stick or the film will refuse to wind on forno obvious reason.

A little frustrating on occasions but it never comes as a surprise nor does it stop me from wanting to use them again...I think the challenge and satisfaction of obtaining an image makes up for the difficulties.

Glad to hear that you've got out and enjoyed yourself though and I'm pretty sure you will have some decent results, even if not as many as you hoped for.

seems like that's what happened to my camera, maybe that's just what it needs, just to get re used again. Being tucked away for years then asking it to work straight from the off :gag:

I'll just like to say welcome back to the amazing world of film photography!

If the welcome back was refering to me, then thanks ;) . But I am just testing things out at the moment. It was a whole different experience using the film camera.

Had I used my digital camera, I would have got at least ten pictures even before I had got to the park. Pic one would have been a fella on the opposite side of the road picking his nose, pic two would have been a litter bin, pic three would have been a woman pushing a pram, pic four would have been the shopkeeper sweeping the front of his shop etc etc.

With the film camera, I somehow felt these were not worthy subjetcs to waste my precious film on. I wanted to wait for that certain photo, one that is worthy of spending money on :p

Hahaha I can understand that. The intriguing thing about working with film is that you consider your shots before shooting considerably more than with digital photography. One thing I like about film is the feeling of creating an image as much as capturing one, especially when you can dev & wet print the films yourself.
