After losing my old PWs I invested in the new Pocketwizard Flex transceivers.

It took me a little while to adjust to shooting in ETTL mode with remote flash and I kept thinking manual however once I gave myself up and trusted the camera/flash judgement and placed my preferences upon them things started to get good. A definite recommend if anyone is considering them.

Some shots from the day:

Fantastic series Gary  I can really see the benefit of ETTL here, just the right amount of flash to add a little light to the scene, helping to freeze the action and emphasise dynamics. Quality stuff sir ;)

I'm convinced a hotshoe could even be unnoticeably rigged to a vicars lapel.

Looks good. Do they also give you high speed sync?

Yes, they have this thing called Hypersync which allows you to shoot at faster than sync speeds then move on to High speed sync a la Canon. I could see being useful for wedding togs and portraiture. I am not sure it would have the required recycle time for sports. This said I did not move too far away from my comfort zone - maybe next outing.

Thanks for the kind comments. I have already started to think about buying a second set as ratios can be dialled in "on the fly". Perfect for situations where access to the flash may be restricted/limited. "wake up" functions work so you could set your flash up in advance and leave without fear of killing battery or not working when needed.
