Evening all.

I fancy having a go at shooting with lights. Periodically I take a few images at home of the kids or friends and it's a bit hit and miss, but I enjoy playing about.

Currently I use two flashes with an umbrella and i have a small ezylight thingy to go on a flash.

I don't have too much space usually shooting against white walls in the kitchen.

I don't want to spend a fortune but at the same time I hate buying cheap and upgrading two weeks later.

I've been looking at the stuff Garry has on the lencarta site and it looks like a good place to start.

Do I buy a kit or individual lights and the diffusers they have as half price on their web site? Or do I look at something else?

They need to be appropriate for an environment where the lights will be reasonably close.

What should i be looking at please?

Give Garry a buzz and tell him what your requirements are and he'll sort you out. He's an incredibly helpful and knowledgeable guy and you'd have to spend considerably more more to get better gear. Just about all my studio gear is Lencarta, and what isn't will be replaced with it as I need to.

I think mains power will be fine.

Looking at Lencarta the smartflash 2 kit looks like it might do the trick for me. Will give Garry a call when I'm ready to pull the trigger and have a chat to him.

I bought this kit and upgraded to the pro-fold softboxes, the kit goes up and down in a matter of minutes, and I'm very impressed with the build quality.

I just haven't had much time to put using them into practice yet.
