As the title says these images are the first one out of the scanner from my first ever rolls of velvia, and indeed are the first E-6 films that I have developed..

For my first go at home developing E-6 I was not dissapointed, the images below are from 35mm velvia 50, 120 velvia 50 and 120 velvia 100..

It was just a try out to see what happened but I can see I will be playing with slide film a lot more..

I've done home C-41 and it was no harder than normal black and white to be honest, my jobo is hardly temperature accurate and I've had good results at 35 and 45 degrees when it's supposed to be 38.0

It's worth picking up a 1l kit from a shop and having a go at it, should be less than £20 and you can get 15 odd rolls from it, so it's reasonably priced

I am using a Jobo processor to keep my chemical temps right but know lots of people that just keep them warm in a sink of warm water...With C-41 colour I think it's only the developer that critical at 38 degrees + or - 0.5 of a degree, the rest are not so critical..the processor makes it easier, but If I didn't have one I wouldn't let it stop me developing colour..
as for colour slides Velvia etc, this afternoon was the first time I had attempted E-6 developing and didn't find it any more difficult than C-41...I have developed 19 colour films in the last month and they have all come out OK..

try it, there is loads of info on you tube..

These are very nice Steve, particularly the first (sunset) one which really does have that Velvia look.:thumbs:

Did you try to get any detail out of that large black area in foreground right with your scanner? That's the sort of area that was giving me problems, even much less extreme areas wouldn't yield anything much other than a sort of cloth weave effect. :bang:

No I didn't try to get any detail out of the dark area, As it was getting quite dark when I was taking the image, so thats what I saw with my eyes so thats what I was trying to capture in the image.

with other images that I took in more normal lighting conditions, I found that as long as they were exposed about right they would develop and scan reasonably good.
 
My, you have been a busy boy today, considering you only got the chemicals this morning! :eek:

I think the sunset and the field of corn are my favourites out of the four, really nice colours. :thumbs:

I suppose I had better get on with the Provia that is in the Yash as we are supposed to have a decent weekend for a change. :D

I've just noticed first call do a c41 pre diluted kit for 16 quid, might try that next time I need to order chemicals. E6 after that, should probably shoot some slide film first...
 
Very nice images and development.

I too have been put off trying colour development due to stories of how fickle it can be but you give me confidence to give it a go. I don't have a Jobo though.

What scanner were you using if you don't mind me asking?

Cheers Des, I am using a Epson v500 for my scanning of both my 35mm and 120 stuff..it seems good for the money..
