I've been keen to explore the new HDR function in Canon's free DPP software, as I could never justify buying full HDR software. With that in mind, I processed a couple of shots from our recent trip to Bournemouth. I know they may be over-cooked, but they do illustrate the power of this free software. It has a good variety of controls to fine tune the results. I did notice that it works better from three bracketed RAW files, but if you take one RAW and process at +1, 0 -1 then the results need a heavier tweek, but still look good.

I would like to know what you think, and please feel free to post your HDR shots processed with DPP.

Many thanks

I quite like them, even though others will agree they're overcooked, very impressive for free software, wish people wouldn't diss DPP so much.

Thanks guys. I too could never understand why people diss DPP as it is free, quite powerful, produces low image the best noise reduction for Canon files and now has a good HDR function.

I don't like the sky in the first one, but otherwise it's done a fair job, and it is a first go as well, bit of tweeking and your there. The second one makes Bournemouth look quite nice, don't think I've ever been there.
