Yes
Im new to photography and just starting building my portfolio for studio/ family work.
I've asked my friend who has a 2 month baby if I can do a shoot with him and they were well pleased and said yes! I can't wait!! Been dying to do a new baby shoot so really looking forward to this.

Can I get any tips from you guys? I've got some ideas on poses and positions but any advise? Iv seen people setup with a heater nearby to keep the baby warm if doing naked shots.

Any help will be appreciated thanks.

This is a free shoot too by the way.

My tip - 2 month old babies are not "newborns". Unless you are very lucky you'll have a completely different type of shoot.

Good luck

Its not something i do a lot of (christenings excepted) so take this with a pinch of salt , but my general advice will be that 2month old will get fractious pretty quickly so have a plan and execute it fast and don't try for lots of poses... it may also be happier in its mothers arms than posed in blankets/cushions etc

Also get down to its level to avoid the dreaded "my dog" angle

and don't forget the detail shotslike its teeny hand holding its dads finger - its a cliche but its still worth having in a portfolio because it make mummys go "ahhh"

Lighting wise I'd be inclined to either natural light or if you must use flash, OCF bounced off something - in my limited experience babies arent a big fan of flash because the suddeness of it can scare them

And if the baby turns out looking red and or blotchy conversion to B&W can hide a multitude of sins

I'm sure i saw an article on this by @Lindsay D who knows a shed load more about this stuff than I do, but I can't find it now - it was probably on her blog which is well worth a look anyway.

Just one thought and piece of advice.

I hope you have your 3rd party liability insurance in place.

If you are in anyway having this baby in your "studio", posing them, directing parents, setting up props or something to place the baby on, putting up lights or reflectors or holding a camera above the subject then anything which causes an injury to that baby would be your responsibility. 2 month old babies wriggle and thrash their arms and legs around when they are awake, even if you took ultimate care when you initially placed them.
