Hi all

I will be attending the RAF Cosford air show next weekend.

It will be my first as a photographer. I have a 700D and a 55-250 IS STM Lens and was wondering if this will be good enough for locking on AF quickly enough... i have been toying with the idea of a 760D with the 19 AF points as opposed to the 9 on the 700D.

Any tips and advice much appreciated.

Hi Joel,

First of all you need to help the camera a little with the AF (whatever camera you use) and if you can use AI servo mode (or sports mode) and I'd use the centre AF point too - make it a little less 'hit and miss' when it comes to tracking the planes. It my opinion it's not the number of AF points you have, it's the speed of the AF and it's ability to hold the focus that's key.

If the 750D has it, use centre weighted metering too - this will help with the

Also - if you can practice panning before hand - although panning with planes can be challenging, any practise before hand will help ;)

Good luck and look forwards to seeing some of the results!

Matt
