I have been playing about with my camera (what else) and I have spotted that Nikon have done a firmware upgrade on the D200 via the internet to version 2.01 from 2.00.

So me being me I thought I would have a go at the upgrade. Basically Nikon claimed it would stop battery indicator flicker in the display and get rid of light bars which occurred on the first versions they produced of this model. Mine being a later version didn't have these faults.

Anyway did the upgrade and having tried out the camera with both a Sigma and Nikon lens and I suspect there is more within the upgrade than Nikon care to admit.

The trial pictures seem to be sharper and the colour settings from normal to very vivid seem to be more defined. With the settings on normal colours appear to be more natural, maybe its just my imagination but I would love to find out if any other "tweeks" were also in the upgrade.

Has anyone else noticed this, I would be most interested

Its a placebo effect from a firmware upgrade.

Happens all the time. Nothing changed.

I posted this when it happened. I didn't notice any changes of any type at all!

The best ever "placebo effect" upgrade I saw was posted on Nikon Cafe

"The upgrade has made my D200 into a totally new camera, much sharper, faster focusing, and banding has gone".

It did none of those things
