Firmware Updating

After reciving my new 1D Mk II N in the post yesterday and starting to get to grips with it How important is to Update the firmware.As of now version 1.1.2 is installed.

You have the latest version installed.

There are various opinions on firmware updating.

1. If you dont need what it gives dont do it.

2. Update it as soon as something new comes out.

Personally I do it if I can remember or if it brings something new / fixes a problem that concerns me.

I was going to start a thread similar to this myself, hope you don't mind me asking my own question in yours - Can someone tell me how you install firmware, and what sort of things it fixes/changes?

Not sure about Nikon but for Canon:Just download the update from the Canon site then copy the file to a Compact flash card,load the card into the camera and download the software onto the camera.You are adviced to make sure you have a full battery to complete the update.
