Well, I've been contemplating purchasing a new Nikon and have been mulling over a D300 or the D700, but secretly wanting a D3, however after a trip to Jessops and holding the D3, I've decided i will be going for the D700.

Is it just me, but after man-handling the D3, i found it to be so uncomfortable

The D700 is a fine choice, especially if it feels more comfortable in your hands. Mine arrived today, had a little play but had to pack it back up as its an xmas pressie really.

You held a D3 and now you want a D700? Are you quite mad?????

According to my shrink, Extremely ;), but that's another story!

D700 is a very nice choice. Stick a battery pack on it and it pretty much becomes a D3 anyway :)

I'm having problems picking my D300 up since I bought the D3. I wont be parting with it though.
The D3 really doesnt seem big to me. I know some members think it does, but I've always had grips on my camera's. maybe thats got something to do with it.

I'm using a D70s with grip and find that perfect, maybe i need to try it again, which i will before buying the D700, but i'm liking the dust removing system on the 700 and with a grip it's basically a D3, as stated earlier in the thread, but for around £650 less.

I tried the D700 and D3 and went for the 700 as well, picked up the battery grip so I have the option rather than constant extra bulk. Cracking camera, you will love it!

:canon:!!!!!

:D:p:D Sorry there was just too much nikon talk i had to do it :p

:nikon: there we go, that evens that out.lol

:p

If you end up putting a grip on a D700 it'll end up as big and heavy as a D3 and not a lot cheaper. Both seem a fair jump up from a D70s, mind you...
