Hi folks,

I upgraded to my 30D about 5mths ago but only just got around to getting the grip. I'm shooting a local 10k race this weekend and know I'll be in portrait mode a lot so I ordered one from Mifsuds yesterday. It arrived this morning and immediately I'm wondering how I survived without it - exactly how I felt when I got the grip for my old 300D...

What does everyone else think about the grips?

If you can afford it - get it, makes the camera far more comfortable and balanced for bigger lenses, particularly in portait mode. Also of course the means to not only have extended battery life, but also to use standard AA's if your really stranded :) (thats my opinion to anyone considering the battery grip for their camera, you can always remove it for those times when you dont want the camera to be so bulky)

Congrats

The battery grip is an essential bit of kit for the 20D IMHO - transforms it into a much better handling camera.

I've always thought Canon designed cameras for Japanese hands, i.e. too small for the likes of me. I'd be lost without my battery grip.

I had a grip on my 300d and i've got a grip on the 20d, i'd not be without it.
The feel of the camera is much improved as is the balance when you've got a decent sized lens on.

Mine makes a hell of a difference I have to admit. If I'm out and about and carrying the camera all day then the grip comes off to save on weight, but using it for an evening at speedway it makes portrait shots so much easier and means I don't have to have anyh of the usual battery concerns! Certainly the initial concerns I had about the weight of it have proved largely groundless.
