Hi guys

got a problem - or a conundrum - with my filter threads. Essentially the scenario is that;
1: I’ve got a Sony F828 and I want to mount the following accessory lens on it. The Sony F828 filter thread is 58 mm. The add on lens are: Sony VCL-DEH17R telephoto and the Sony VCL-DH0758 wide angle lens. Now the telephoto one is huge and has a weird locking mechanism as that really needs ANOTHER adapter to use on the Sony R1. So I’m not too sure what I can do with that. However the wide angle one has a filter thread to screw in at the back, but it doesn’t quite fit on the Sony F828 58mm and yet it appears to be a 58mm thread on the rear; any ideas what I need?

Although the VCL-DH0758 wasn't intended to mount direct on a lens but on a sleeve that goes over it onto the H1's lens housing, there are reviews on Amazon that suggest it should work. I would check both sets of thread with a 58mm filter to see if one or the other is damaged.

It's best to forget about the R1 tele-adapter as it's too big to use without a support underneath. There was something that went between it and the R1, connecting to the tripod socket to give support. Edform on DPReview has done a lot of work with this adapter to connect it to his RX10 and he made a custom support for it to take the weight.

Thanks, Jonathan! So a I right in thinking that a 58mm adapter one one end, and a 58mm on the other end - should work theoretically?

If what I read was correct it should just work without an adapter which is why I suggested checking the integrity of the threads.

I was offered one of those when I was using my R1 and I couldn't believe the weight of it. I didn't think that fitting it to the camera's plastic lens barrel would be a good idea, no matter what the Sony literature claimed.
