Hi all,

I recently got a new Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 L Mk II from Ian Kerr (Kerso).I did beforehand have the loan of a Mk I version of this lens from a friend.I noticed that he had a Hoya Skylight filter on and i'd like to know the advantages over a UV filter which i know is used mostly for protection.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thank's...:)

A skylight filter is a colour correction filter with a slight magenta cast. If you want a filter just to protect the front of the lens, a UV filter or a clear filter (sometimes called protection filter) would probably be more suitable.

the Skylight 1B will leave a pink tint to your DSLR shots

as I found after a day of snow shots last winter.................:bang:

now use clear 72mm Marumi DHG slimline Protector and a 52mm Hoya HD Protector
