Evening all. Have been shooting with the F80 today. Must say that this camera is a joy to work with, absolute joy. Have been using the 50mm f/1.8 with hood. Just some walk about shots really but managed to get some portraits in there too.

Anyway, when this roll finishes I plan on getting it developed but unfortunately I only had the choice of Kodak Ultra Max 400 or Kodak Ultra 200 film :-(. Bassically I want to know if my HP Photosmart 2570 All-In-One scanner is capable of scanning negatives? If not I will ask the shop to scan them for me but would be nice to do it at home to my image specification.

Dont much about scanning so hopefully someone here can help.

Cheers

King.

Mr King Boru...

I don't know where you are getting your negatives developed, but if it's a high street store and you get them scanned at the same time they will most likely be low resolution JPEGs suitable only for printing 6x4s. :gag:

If you send them to a specialist like http://www.peak-imaging.co.uk/ you can get a much better quality develop and scan service with various scanning options.

I've been down a similar path and in the end went and bought myself a dedicated film scanner the Nikon Coolscan V. This really was the only way I could guarantee the kind of scans I wanted. It is cost effective for me as I have scanned thousands of negatives over the last 18 months. Results of which have been previously posted here by my badself. :D

Regarding your flatbed scanner, if it came with a plastic adaptor for 35mm you could scan your own. Again, I have done the same and the results were disappointing (IMO). Another reason why I have the Nikon Coolscan. :nikon:
