This is probably a much asked question so feel free just to point me in the direction of any existing answers...

The basic question is, fill-flash on a Nikon D80... how that done then?

I have a 4-generations portrait to take at the weekend (my :baby: daughter being the youngest) and I want to make sure that I get it right! Anyone know of a good tutorial, or can provide a quick run down themselves? Settings, tricks, things to remember or take note of are all appreciated.

Ta

I've only used Nikon flashes a few times but the fundamentals are similar - just set your flash power from between -2/3rds of a stop or lower (depending on how imbalanced the lighting is) & this should provide just enough light to lift the shadows

I had a read of the manual (:eek:I know) and it turns out the D80 will set fill-flash automatically in P,V,A & M modes. I was shooting RAW against a french window at mid-afternoon and from what the screen showed it looked ok. Should get it off the cam tonight for a proper look and then maybe a jigger about in PS.

We shall see...
