OK, newbie question and I've searched the forum, apologies if I missed my answer.

I'm shooting in RAW as recommended and need to convert to jpg to upload anywhere. I have Elements 6 (legally!) but it only offers JPEG 2000 which seems to stall on web uploads, so am guessing some compatibility issue. From searching the net i read it should be backwards compatible.

Any plugins I can use for a old fashioned jpg?

Should be able to do it in DPP which came with the camera, or at least change to TIFF and then change to jpg after cropping/editing...

Once you've worked on your image and resized it suitable for posting on the web, simply go to File > Save for Web and follow the dialog boxed from then on. Your files will be automatically converted to 8 bit.

I can see no reason why you can't download your RAW files from camera to a folder by simply dragging and dropping from the card? Reading the RAW is simply requires an appropriate software program.

I routinely Save for Web to keep file sizes below 180k, unless someone specifically asks for the exif or I have some query about it.
