Ferrania Re-start film production

I saw something about this the other day, anyone re-starting film production has to be a good thing! :)

I have been wondering for a while if some smaller companies may be looking at revving some of the lost emulsions (like buying up Kodaks Patents for reversal)

I don't think we'll ever get Kodachrome back, but I'd certainly like to see some more alternatives to Fuji reversal film!

BTW I'm scanning my Ektachrome E100SW from foursquare now; seems to have come out rather nice!

Double :( :(

I have a little collection of old Kodachrome slides taken by other people but I never shot it myself and I'm kind of upset about that! From what I've seen it was just utterly gorgeous, guess I was born a few decades too late. :(

It was the first reversal film I ever shot, the colours were stunning. It was a sad day when Kodak called time on Kodachrome.

I have a couple of dozen boxes of Kodachrome slides, and maybe half a dozen Ektachrome. I really liked Kodachrome at the time (when we were doing big holidays, Before Children!), but I must say when I came to scan the slides last year I very much preferred the Ektachrome! Very old slides that have been projected several times gather a LOT of dust, and you can't use the scanner's infrared dust-removal with Kodachrome (actually you can to an extent, by masking out the non-sky bits, but it's incredibly labour-intensive).

Looking at the scans from our 3-week holiday in New Zealand in 1974/5, where I shot two rolls of Ektachrome and 3 of Kodachrome, I don't think there's a noticeable difference in the quality of the results. But then, NZ rules!

Nice to hear positive news about film production as against lines that are being axed.....can only be a way forward imo
