Just had day surgery at my local hospital to have a big toe nail off after over a year of suffering with an ingrowing toe nail. Just nicely got home and the toe is now throbbing. On the plus side, week off work on sick so will get some quality time in on here!!!!:thumbs:

Oooo its like being a kid again on half term

You big girls blouse! :p I had one that went in on both sides of my toe for a year and a half and just got on with it. It was only when my mum saw it that I went to the doctors. Apparantly it was a very bad and judging by the appearence of it I shouldnt have been able to walk LOL!

Had it taken out, back on my feet next day :D

Shhhhhhh, Mrs Wisemen might read this and stop fetching my tea and biccies.

I had both of mine done about twelve years ago. I had been through various operations over about eight years to sort out my toes but none of them wiorked properly. Up until then they were all done under local anaesthetic which didn't really give the surgeon enough time to do the job properly.

In the end I went to see my doctor and told him that I wanted both nail beds removed under general anaesthetic. He said "Yes, I think that's what I would want too" and arranged it for me.

I have had no problems since. Neither big toe grows a proper nail any more, just the odd little bit which needs occasional trimming.

After years of pain I finally had my big toe nails removed and the nail beds killed so they don't grow back again - best thing I ever did.

Mind you I was back at work the day after
