We need new double glazed UPVC windows and a door.
Has anyone used this Bradford based company and would care to share their opinions with me please ?

Thank you

I would try and find a local but recommended company. Ask friends, neighbours, facebook group, to find some local fitters.

Thank you for your replies.
We did go down the local independent route but (long story short) it didn't work out, now we have to start again.

The online reviews for Safestyle are pretty bad, I would think twice before using them.

I would second the small local independent company, especially if you can get a personal recommendation. We’ve just had all our windows replaced and bifold doors put in, a builder we know recommended a local family run company and they’ve been excellent, we’re very happy with the result. Is there anyone in the area that has had work done recently that you could ask? Or are you in a local Facebook group where you could post asking for recommendations?

Thanks for your replies.

I have decided (with your help) to steer clear of Safestyle UK and go down the local installer route again.

The adverts are so annoying that I wouldn't use them, even if they were the cheapest available.

If the frames are still OK but the glass bits are starting to fog, look in to having just the glass replaced.

Another vote for local firms.

PM sent.

At our old house we were cold called on the phone about windows by them. My wife and I had actually discussed getting them done so I stupidly said I’d talk to her about it, and he said he’d ring back.

We talked, read the reviews and decided to steer clear of them.

The bloke did ring back and I politely explained we’d discussed it and decided not to go ahead.. he started screaming down the phone and called me a banker or a word that rhymes and hung up.

Roll on a month or two and someone knocks at the door.. it’s a safe style employee asking if we want windows. I tell him in no uncertain terms but politely I wouldn’t use them if they were the last company on earth. He then gets mouthy and violent and starts threatening to “batter me” and calls my wife some obscene profanity.. My wife pulls me inside and shuts the door.

Roll on another 3 months or so, and the same fat see you on Tuesday is at the door and let’s say I wasn’t quite so polite straight off the bat. I made sure that they knew they weren’t welcome anywhere near my property.

Stay well clear.

I had to threaten to call the police on a well known high end DG company's salesman to get rid of him. Not K2, slightly higher.

That’s a good shout. There are companies that will supply and fit replacement double glazed units for a lot less than ripping out and replacing whole windows. Or you can even buy the units and fit them yourself…. I’ve just ordered some units for our back door and the window next to it. We got a quote of £1500 for pvc replacements but the door is a really solid 2” thick hardwood thing and it seems such a waste to scrap it. The two d/g units came to £130 delivered.

Yep, we had 8 blown windows (inc 2 queen anne) replaced for £710 inc labour which meant we could afford the £1,500 it cost to have the patio doors replaced.

MiL had a panel that had blown beside her front door. The frame is part of the door frame so the quite to replace the whole unit was in the thousands. Her gardener (a retired builder) suggested a replacement glass which was £100 or so, including fitting. She used the same firm to replace a whole window (she's short and old so couldn't reach to open/close the old one!) which they did for just under £400 all in (including disposal of the old unit.)

Can only speak from experience - yes stay away from safestyle.

When needing Double Glazing for the entire house about 5 years ago, I used local guides and neighbours to identify 3 local companies which might be suitable. I had each company visit then told them to send me a written quotation. At least one of them tried to tell me that this was not the way they work and a deal had to be agreed there and then but I told them that is not how I operate. As Company A left he said well you will lose out on the 25% discount. I told him just send me your best price within 7 days, if it is too high, you will not get the contract. All companies were also told to include full copy of their T&C's but one forgot and had to bring it later. I had a formal assessment spreadsheet which I used to asses the proposals and Company A did the best and despite his comments, they were also the lowest price. I was well pleased with the results.
