Hi everyone, and a happy new year to you all,
Does anyone know where I can get a can of inspiration from? I’ve lost mine,
Warehouse Express have sold out and Jessups have never had any, only it's so wet, cold and dark in my neck of the woods I don’t think I'd find it if I looked for it.

Hey - you're in my boat!

Desperate for some decent weather to just get outside and get going!

Don't panic mate - I'm sure once a half colourful sun-rise or -set comes along we'll both be magically cured :)

Jon

I tend to find a look through the really big photo sites like Flickr.

Just type in a random word and browse through the shots....I find there's loads of inspiration from looking at what others have done. I sometimes see a shot, and then think of the idea behind it and then try and build on it and work it differently.

Hope that helps :)

Me too - I was soo looking forward to getting out with my new 100mm macro lens today. Hasn't stopped raining from the minute I got up till just now, and now it's dark :(

I have been trying to get a 'wildlife' image for the last week or so. There are two swans nesting in a pool just at the side of the A5 in Cannock which I pass each day. I have had my camera gear in the car every day for over a week but have not really managed to get it out for fear of getting soaked. The weather is particularly poo at the moment.

The rain made me miss another opportunity today too, driving past a local football pitch there were about 20 gulls perched on top of the goal posts. It was lashing down and I would have got soaked had I tried to creep up on them!

Seriously thinking of getting one of those rain coats for my camera.

Or moving to Egypt :naughty:

Actually - on the raincoat front - anyone used one?

Jon the hijacker :suspect:

I think loads of us are feeling disinclined to get motivated right now Rhodese ... you are not alone ... :D

Whether it is the weather, the aftermath of too much food and drink or, like me, just a lack of focus enough to get good stuff out of my gear ... but chin up m8 ... Spring is around the corner, days are getting longer, they will get lighter and everyone will be full of bounce and motivation just in time for the new life abounding ... or summat like that ...

:p

Quite possibly Joe, though Steep has some clear weather!

I hear you.

The weather down here has been pretty pants for weeks now, it's been a struggle to find the motivation. I've got a new flash to keep me a bit occupied and now i'm thinking of getting macro lens too for these miserable days indoors. I should be moving to Prague at the end of the month though, so new city and new weather (snow i hope) should get the creative juices flowing :D

I hope everyone who needs inspiration finds it somewhere :D

Good luck with Prague..I hear its a great place.

re lack of inspiration: I've been amazed at some of the things folk around here have been photographing........coffe mugs, tea strainers etc and making them look marvellous.........I tried last night, but not happy enough to post any.....still, at least the camera came out of the bag.

Where do I send my subscription for membership of this club, just bought a real tripod and is been raining ever since.

We're going to need a bigger boat

:D

Same problem here - cloud all the time, except the days when Im in work

Still, maybe this York day out will be a turning point

Thanks :) bricking it a bit though, moving to a foreign country where i can't speak the lingo and don't know the way things work is a bit daunting, but i'm young and not tied down so why not give it a go, i've got nothing to lose :D

Getting dark early is wonderful for shooting night time type stuff because you can do it at a reasonable time of day, and you get a lot more visual activity going on unlike the summer when everyone has gone home long before daylight ends.

The weather can be so dramatic and changeable that pretty much anything can look different from one moment to the next. Far more interesting than the monotony of constantly bright weather with only two looks (overcast and sunny) that will soon dominate for months on end.

People escaping showers tightly huddled under shop awnings, giant waves at the beach, moody clouds, the bare branches of silhouetted trees, rain bouncing off of the street, mud covered rugby players...

Winter: it is great!

Michael.

Wouldn't worry about the lingo, just come back from Prague and amazed at how many people speak english. Good luck with the move, Prague is architectually stunning and should provide you with plenty of inspiration.

Yeah i've been there for about a month a few months back and spoke only English in the touristy places, it's all the other living things like contracts that i'm more worried about but i'll be fine ;)

So am I the only one going shooting today/tonight???? :p

Nope, no shooting..... no house to live in so I don't really get alot of choice.

If I did have a choice I'd be right with all of you. :(

Micheals take on winter shooting is bang on the money though and does put us all to shame somewhat.

(note to self)
Really really must make an effort to get out shoot some stuff for stock.
