Here is a quick show of what it does.

It creates paint/cartoon effect.

It's not really hdr, it looks like someone sneezed when they were moving the 'saturation' slider!

I am not saying it is HDR I am just following the tutorial.

I am not a great fan of HDR but I do like to try new things.

Hmm, much better than the first one, although I'm not a fan at all of this style of pic (although I'm sure some will love it). But like you said, good to try new things.

It does give an effect silmiar-ish to the overblown HDR, although not to everybodies taste, I suspect it'll work better on some images, and not so well on others.
