It isn't a native but if you have the room, and are not somewhere in the UK without severe weather, it is a great plant.
It is evergreen and quite architectural, but its main advantage is it flowers in autumn/early winter(ours in London has been flowering for the last couple of weeks) and it really good for a number of insects.
