I couldn't see anywhere to post this so I've posted here...

I've been using FastStone for quite a while but I recently noticed that it's showing excessive noise in some pictures which look perfectly ok in Adobe CS5 and Windows Photo Viewer.

I've looked at the settings but I can't see anything that looks relevant.

Has anyone else seen this and can anyone point me at a fix other than use something else? :D

What's the file format of the noisy images, Alan?

Sorry can't spot anything obvious in settings, and my images here are noise-free.

An example, the first one is a screen shot of the faststone picture and the second is the JPEG I see with the Windows viewer and CS5.

Looking at other pictures I don't think it's just noise that's the problem, there seems to be more sharpening and maybe contrast too. It's as if it's pushing all the sliders... that I can't see...

Thanks for looking. I really don't know what's going on. I may delete it and reinstall it and see if that does anything.

Quick update...

I've just deleted and reinstalled it and it's fine now :D

I've no idea what happened but some pictures looked noisy and over processed. I don't remember it always being like that so perhaps something went wrong with the program or possibly a Windows update upset it. Whatever. After being removed and reinstalled it's back to normal now.

Sorry for any time wasted :D but if anyone else sees this problem the way forward is to delete and reinstall :D
