No
I've been with Streamline.net for years, and whilst they don't have the greatest reputation I've had no real issues.

It appears they've been taken over by Fasthosts, can I expect an improvement or degradation in my service?

I have been with Fasthosts previously, from dedicated servers through VPS and shared hosting accounts, they are ok, not great, but ok. I needed better so moved to Vidahost, which so far seems to have been the right call, I only run a shared account now (though did have a VPS with them for well over a year).

It's likely that you will end up having to use Fasthosts control panel which to be honest is (or was) dreadful from a usability point of view, too many options masked beind idiot proof templates for me - I much prefer to cock things up properly ;) - in reliability terms though I found them fairly good with only one serious outage in some 7 years or so (lasted about three hours). Their support is slowish to respond though, typically took hours, sometimes a day or so, which wasn't great, for example with Vidahost I get a response within minutes.

I can echo Pauls comments on Vidahost, have been with them for years with no issues whatsoever. Support is lightening quick, and they've always gone above and beyond helping me secure my website when I got 'hacked' last year.

My domains are currently sitting with Fasthosts, never had any issue there, but it's not exactly taxing for them to hold my domains!
I will say though, that I have a forum which was on streamline, and we had no end of issues - lots of downtime and no load handling, meaning in peak times the forum would grind to a halt - so we switched off them as soon as was practicable.

If you're willing to stump up a little more get the fasthosts business platinum package, it gives you 24/7 support with a dedicated number. My extreme macro site uses that. I have 9 domains with fasthosts and 75 reseller domains, it's not a bad service overall but like any hosting company there are periodic issues, not even necessarily their fault. One thing to check, if you have a lot of stuff in your .htaccess make sure it's all enabled at FH.
