Can anyone recommend me a fast SD card that won't cost the earth. Mine is a std 8gig one and i find that it's annoyingly slow also a good place to get one.

^^ As above.

Either from Dell (£25 for an 8GB) or 7dayshop (£40 for same)

hi andy whats it slow at doing if you dont mind me asking, does it struggle with the hd video.

It's just when i take a photo it does take a tiny while to download to the disc. I did have a faster card but it went wrong and i can't remember what one it was but as above it could have been the Sandisk extreme III. I think i'll get one of those.

thanks all

I'm using a Sandisk Ultra II with my D90 and have had no trouble with speed and recording 720p video to it. I will be upgrading to a Extreme III so my buffer can clear quicker since the D90 can use the 30Mbs. If your camera can use the full potential of the Extreme III then I would suggest that, if not then the Ultra II is still a great card to consider.

I picked up the Ultra II from agros for 9.99, for the 4GB one. Although that may have been on offer at the time.

Another vote for Sandisk extreme III...

Will snap away 4 shots per second on my camera, I get scared after a couple of seconds and take my finger of the trigger!! I end up with 16+ images of the dog running in the park!!

I recently bought 2 x 4GB of ebay, £8.50 each including P&P.

Was this the all black one or the one with the red bit on the bottom, the one with the red is the faster one.

My first choice would be Sandisk extreme 3 but when I got my camera that wasn't an option as no one had them in stock near me so I called in to scan and picked up 2 of these I went for class 6 and they are excellent, I have done over 4500 shots with them and get about 4 shots before it has a problem on a 500D in raw, shooting jpg it goes on and on I stopped at 100 ish shots and shot over 15 minutes of continuous HD video with no problem so it would probably fill the card.

My only concern is reliability compared to the sandisk cards but I have had a few danelec cards and never had a problem, so I'm not that concerned.

play.com do a PNY Ultima 16GB SD card for 17.99. I have it in the 500D and it shoots and records video absolutely fine. I also had that in a LUMIX FZ28 and I had no complaints with it, so I bought it again for the 500D.
