Yes
Having rather a soft spot for Coen Brothers films, I was intrigued to see that they're making a 10 part TV series based on Fargo. Cast looks interesting, Martin Freeman, Billy Bob Thornton as well as Bob Odenkirk from Breaking ad.

Airs in the US in a couple of weeks. Not sure if/when it will be shown over here though.

Loved the film way back, so might enjoy the series.
The short storyline on that link reminds me of Lillyhammer in a way, which I thought could have been so much better.

There hasn't been much on TV recently to really get my attention, so thanks for the heads up :D

Well the Coens are involved so that can only be good. They certainly coaxed the best out of Billy Bob Thornton in The Man Who Wasn't There so I am looking forward to this quite a lot.

So, did anyone watch it..?

I watched it Friday.. All I can say is, wow, Good writing, Great acting and Superb cinematography.

Dare I say it'll be as good as the film!?

b****r....missed it :(

Watched it last night, exciting with real laugh out loud humour.

I loved (and own) the film, missed the other nights episode but am wondering just why they made a series rather than just showed the film..?
I guess they have changed it a fair bit - anyone know ?

The series isn't a remake, it's different characters set in the same locale.

I thought the 1st episode was excellent, can't wait for the next one.

That makes sense fabs - it wouldn't seem like the Coen brothers to just chop a film into episodes, and I have to assume there will be the usual twists and surprises to look forward to...!

Lots of repeats coming up over the next week for anyone who missed the first episode.

Never seen the film but saw this last night and was impressed. Didn't know it was coming in 10 parts but that's alright, means I have a bit of good telly to look forward to.

Judging by responses on here it'll be better received than that c4 drama a while back about the gunman.

A good start I thought

I missed it (family visiting), haven't been able to find any of the repeats in the schedule. Off to 4oD I suppose.

Its on channel 4Seven on Saturday at 11, but it is also available on demand :)

Ep2 for me tomorrow! Hopefully as good as the first.

I love both the film and the series (so far)... I'm not sure if I've been blind to it, but has anyone noticed a cross-over between the events of the two narratives? I'm recognising similar characters (different names and gender reversal) and the opening scene (the car/deer/naked guy event) is very reminiscent of a scene in the film.

I'm terrible for remembering films until I'm actually watching them again ... so, apart from the odd accents and the snow the bits that do strike a chord in the memory bank actually have me thinking of The Sopranos :D

In the film the car salesman (not insurance) arranges for two bungling crooks to kidnap his wife so he can extort the ransom out of her rich father, so this story is completely different so far, looking forward to seeing how it pans out. Martin Freeman with an American/Canadian accent is a bit wierd though.

Good to see Saul again :)

AHHH - last night's episode! Great stuff :) I did a little squeal of excitement when they referenced the film! I love intertwining narratives :D

Been enjoying watching this a lot so far!

Episode 4 done.. Its getting so good..! Nice little references from the film being input now, like Eddzz!! says, I love that they're intertwining.

Billy Bob is so entertaining in it..

excellent television.

I loved the part when he sat on the toilet with the door open, what are you doing, spadoosh , that's disgusting:D

Postal Worker: This is highly irregular.
Lorne: No. Highly irregular is the time I found a human foot in a toaster oven. This is just odd.

Billy-Bob Thornton is just excellent :D

I'm a year late, but loved Fargo.

Missed the first series somehow but still have the film on laserdisc somewhere..

might have to dust the old player off & give it a whirl :)

Episode 1 will be watched tonight :-)
