As talked about on my other thread, here i have an image that anyone can take and touch up.
I would love to see the differing result.

Please can you post how proficient you are at Photoshop or elements, or whatever you are going to use.

Its in jpg, sorry no RAW.

OK here is one of mine that badly needs touching up as i needed the shot of the boat quickly but failed to make any adjustments so it came out wrong.
The 1st image is for reference, the link is to the full blown 3.4MB version for you to play with.

3.4MB Original version

Post your results and have fun.

:D

A great idea this Kinchy ... ;)

Mine is a very quick & dirty example ... ... processed in my usual (almost standard) approach in Elements 5 (about 1 year on-&-off 'experience' !) ... :suspect:

The reason is just to provide me (selfishly ... :D) with a comparator to other examples which will undoubtedly be posted from our more adept members ...

Here you go then ...

for better stuff to appear ... ;)

:p

Neither the image or linky works for me. Interesting enough the link points to mysite.orange.co.uk.
Lol, I work for Orange on their websites but their internal dns won't let me see these microsites.

Good edit Rog. I'd just crop to the essentials. :)

Thought i had better have a go, tried something a bit different.
Cropped and made the water less reflective by a bit and obviously took out the colour as in full colour it was too obvious they were out of focus.

Hmmm... :naughty: ... thought your subject was the boat ... :suspect:

Was going to ask where your take on it was ... :D

:D

:p

Well, I can tell you it's Gosport (HMS Dolphin?) in the background, probably taken from Portsmouth Harbour Station or near there! :)

Good edit Cedric, BTW

Links ok for me, here's my quick go.

Crop > Layer Background copy > Levels and Brightness and Contrast > Layer - Gradient overlay to daken sky > Layer more tweeks on the sky > USM > Save for web.

IMG_2930.jpg

Very similar to Venomator, whos I think is slightly better, not sure I like the sky in mine?

The subject is the boat, but i thought i would try something different. No harm in that.

It is Gunwharf Quay in Portsmouth. The spinnaker tower is 20m to my right.

This is without any cropping. Just tried to render the scene better first:

BTW this is done on work monitor which ain't the best.

Here's mine:

IMG_2930_1_.jpg

In Corel PSP XI
Duplicated the layer, added a quick gradient mask for the sky.
Levels/curves/etc. tweaks on both layers to bring out the details.
Painted the mask to let some details from the foreground show through.
Crop, scale, save.

Here's my effort, couple of layer masks a bit of saturation and a little sharpen

so think its safe to say mine looks best so far :whistling:  :exit:

:coat:

Hacker, i've just pi**ed myself.

You know, this really is a good thread, maybe it should be a permamant one, where someone uploads a picture, then chooses the best/funniest edit, and then that person does the same. A bit like the funniest caption thread.
Dean:)

Well, here's my feeble attempt...

IMG_2930_my_ver.jpg

What has amazed me so far is the big differences in each persons' processing if the image - most interesting

For the record....Hacker's version wins so far  :woot:
