With a trip to the 'Fallas' at Valencia coming up, I will be trying out my new 650D along with the 10-22 f3.5 and a 18-200 f3.5 EFS lenses.

All around the city during the festival are huge colourfull statue like caricatures, planted usually in road junctions - typically city crossroads surrounded by tall buildings. At night they will be illuminated by floodlights at four corners, by day it will be hopefully clear bright and sunny :)
So, any tips for such shots? framing exposure etc. Typically I would expect to be fairly close to get a clear view and therefore be looking up them.

When you're close enough, get closer :-)
Also, f3.5 at night will need a tripod - the exposure wont be slow enough where a remote can be 'got away with' so you'll need to use one too for some crisp images. Shoot RAW. To exaggerate the scale of these caricatures shoot lying down looking up at the statues. Enjoy you lucky so and so!

Having never heard of Fallas, I did click on this thread with some trepidation, hoping that you had not simply misspelled Phallus.

Thanks for the tips Christo, I am sure I will enjoy it!

No, no misspelling
