During my random wandering of the interwebnet I came across a thing called tilt/shift photography. I've no idea what it is to be honest, however during the search other "fake" tilt/shift effects popped up. A particular tutorial took you through the actions you need to perform in PS (CS) to get the effect without spending > £1000 on the lens. Further it also took you through how to make the shots look as though they are minature models.

It's a novelty effect and I have to admit, wore off on me. But it's good fun while it lasts.

Here's the shots I made using the effect. BTW, I posted these on a non-photography forum I frequent and the "modeler" received lots of praise for his attention to detail :)

I was standing in the front courtyard of Edinburgh Castle looking south.

This one was taken hanging out my bedroom window.

Finally, this one was taken from the Radical Road - a path that winds around the cliff edge of Arthurs Seat in Edinburgh. It's a shot of the front of the Scottish Parliment buildings.

Oops, nearly forgot. Here's the tutorial...

P.S one point to note in particular, the effect works MUCH better if you have strong shadows in your pictures. So a good reason to go out in those harsh sunny days :)

happy shooting

EDIT: Just realised. I may have dumped this in the wrong forum. Sorry :(

We have already had a thread on this process. It certainly is a neat effect.

Have to say yours are particularly effective :)

Thanks for sharing.

thnx and sorry. :) i did search but only found a glossary term for tilt shift. I'll crawl back in me hole.

I wouldn't worry about it, I did a search for the thread as well but couldn't find it even though I think it was Joe T that started it. I am sure that someone will be able to turn it up for us though. :)

No don't do that. I just looked and I can't find the old thread either :)

Your shots are better than those posted previously...wherever they are.

model shots i called them in my recent thread, and you're right these are definately better examples :), my shots were'nt really that suitable ;)

Ahh it was you noah, care to dig up the link to the thread you posted on here for comparrison?

i like wez130's shot better than mine, you really need to have the right perspective to start with i think.
