Quick question for you all.
I have loads of actions on my computer that allow me to make a photo look like it was taken in "the golden hour", but what I'm after is an action that will add an almost blown out area where the sun would be.
A bit like the lens flare filter on PS.
I've seen some as part of sets, but I don't really want to buy a set, just the one action.
Alternatively does anyone have a tutorial on how to achieve this.
I've tried, but it always looks too fake.
Thanks
Dean.

Not quite sure what you want but for a start could you not create a blank layer select white paint or colour of your choice and the softest brush you can get. Make brush to size you require and paint a blob/area on layer, then set blend mode to soft light. If you play around with that you can create some good light effects. Don't forget you can change opacity of layer/ crate layer mask and erase where needed plus you can free transform that layer too.

Hope this points you in the right direction.

New layer. Fill with black. Render > Lens flare. Gaussian blur. Set layer blending mode to overlay. Adjust layer opacity.

Thanks guys.
I did look on YouTube but there wasn't exactly what I was after.
What I had in mind was -
Edit picture, add warm tone to it, then click an action that allows you to place the "sun" where you want it in the picture, then adjust opacity/colour balance etc.
I'll try the methods listed above.
Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Have you tried a white to clear round gradient? it might do the job.

Try this action. It will pause to allow you to change the flare settings and adjust blur. http://www.filedropper.com/sunflare Do you have a link to the sets that contain the effect you want?
Cheers, that's exactly the lens flare filter on PS.
I found that by changing the colour temp you can almost get what I'm after. I don't have a link to hand but I'll try to find one.
Cheers.

I did, but couldn't quite get what I'm after.
I'm almost there.

Ok, I found this video on YouTube. It exactly what I'm after.
Just gong to work out how to make it into an action.

Yay I was'nt far off with this one then. Could I collect 1 brownie point please :)

Why do you need an action though the video is straight forwards enough and every image will be different ?

Yep, that was the point of this action - the flare is on it's own layer allowing further non-destructive adjustment.
