Fake SanDisk CF cards?

I just ordered a couple of SanDisk Extreme III 4gb CF cards from amazon.co.uk.. they shipped from their affiliate 7dayshop.com, who I always thought were safe to buy from.

I was a bit concerned that these cards came with no instructions, pouch or software CD (although there is a voucher with a serial no. in each box that lets you download a copy of RescuePro). Also, the boxes don't have holograms on.

I've checked some online guides to spotting SanDisk fakes, and the cards themselves appear to be kosher, as far as I can see - serial number in the right place, metal label has brushed aluminium effect, etc.

Can anyone else confirm whether SanDisk have cut down on the freebies they put with their cards, or should be be suspicious?

Its possible that Sandisk offer retail packaging and bulk packaging. A speed benchmark should give some idea if they are performing ok, and you can check Sandisk serial numbers with them.
 
I agree with andrewc, to keep costs down they do send out in bulk packaging, mine came from 7 day shop and are definately genuine cards.
 
I bought my new SanDisk Extreme III 32gb CF card a week and a half ago directly from Amazon (not from one of their marketplace sellers) and it is exactly the same. Older cards came with a tiny CD and some papers but this new one was just in a box with a serial number for rescue pro download (don't remember about any user guide for CF card so I'll check when I get home in the evening). I didn't mind that at all - imo the download is better as I have loads of those tiny CDs that came with cards all over my desk ;)
 
I've only ever bought retail packaged ones and the most recent (earlier this year) came with a card pouch and rescuepro CD. I've had Lexar CF cards in bulk packaging - you just get a plastic card keeper for protection.
 
Every time I've bought a Sandisk its always come retail packaged, with the little keep case + warranty / instructions.

If you go to the sandisk site, IIRC,
there is a place to bang in the number and it tells you whether they
are genuine or not and what to look for in "fakes"
 
I bought all bar one of my SanDisk cards from 7dayshop and they all arrived in the impenetrable bubble pack with all the gubbins inside.
