Sadly there will be & are too many folk that fall foul of the scroats that perpetrate such frauds.
Other than vigilance there is no clear way of avoiding being sucked in.. ... stopping such criminals is like 'whack a mole...'

I've got this idea for dealing with scammers...
...but it's nice to dream.
- Form the Grab a Scammer Service.
- Recruit every computer literate kid that wants to join.
- Pay the kids £50 for every scammer they identify and get convicted.
- Fund the service by taking away and selling everything the scammers have when caught.
