Am I the only one who gets annoyed with over-the-top public displays of affection on BookFace? It seems to be getting worse that "friends" of mine post "conversations" with their other halves who are in the same house/room, say happy birthday/anniversary to each other and even wish their children (who are far too young to read let alone have an account) happy birthday!!!
Am I uncharitable to think that they are just attention seeking and could, quite happily, do all these things without letting the world know they are doing them? Facebook is nice to post a few pics on and to keep up with distant friends but people seem to lack any self control!

Anyways, rant over. Just thought I'd see if it was just me :)

I wouldn't say annoyed is the right term but sometimes i think "really, that's the best place to tell someone this!" when some of my friends and family post. Easy work around though only go on once in a blue moon and then mute most people :D

The ones that annoy me are the 'blackmail' status.

'Share this for an hour if you've ever known anyone who had any of a whole heap of nasties to show you care'.

No, I show I care in ways that will help

In the words of the sainted Dionne Warwick -
If you see them posting on your timeline
Scroll on by, just scroll on by(eyeye)
The tears and the sadness they cause you
Scroll on by, just scroll on by(eyeye)

They are the ones I tend to skip by, if they post lots of this sort of stuff, I tend to click unfollow this feed ..

Agree Phil. I'm reminded of a quote from Jurassic Park - " ... your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should."

The thing that gets me with Facebook, which is why my account was used for only a few weeks, is the lack of any structure. In a number of postings about the same subject, eg insect ID, would appears one that said, "Just had a great two weeks in Spain, here are some of my photos", simply, as far as I could tell, because I was friends with someone who was friends with the bloke who thought everybody would want to see his holiday snaps.

Still many seem to find it useful, or even necessary to life, its just not for me

Ah yes, the timeline filling posts telling you that a friend "likes" something that another one of his/her friends like. Drives me mad. I don't care what your friends like, I'm not friends with them and have no wish to see what they think.
Maybe I've just outgrown Facebook :S

Facebook....

The true face of humanity that is just a little bit uncomfortable sometimes.

all the cool kids use twitter ..
I'm too old to learn that
I thought the same, until my local starting using Twitter to update what their guest ales are.
Also, I managed to get a tweet onto the BBCs Test Match Special page, which I never managed with web/email contributions.

You just need the right motivation. ;)

This whole it hasn't happened if its not on facebook mentally drives me made. I'm friends with a couple who declare how romantic they are on there date nights while on facebook the whole time posting how romantic they are.

Then there are the spoilt little brats pictures with presents stacked up to the ceiling, its just vulgar.

My husband isn't even on Facebook. He's one of the bigger Facebook haters I know. If he ever did create an account I would refuse to add him as a friend on principal.

I had to laugh at someone on facebook the other day. Linking to a news story about Boots not paying much tax and swearing she would never go into Boots again... on FACEBOOK!

I had another cull last night. Got rid of a few racists and general idiots. My friends list was approaching 200 at the beginning of the year and is now 121. I fully expect to end up with just a handful of friends on there by the end of the year.

I find these posts are done by the people who bragged about their own presents when I was at school. I just want to comment "Where the **** are you going to put all that?"

they are going to have broken half of it and got bored of the other half by the end of the week - little s***s who are spoilt have no respect for property - so the recycling centre/charity shop is the answer to your question
