Many years ago, I came off Facebook because of it's creepy, pervasive nature; it took me ages to locate and erase every occurrence of it on my PC and phone. Against my better nature, I attempted to join up again as I wanted to avail myself of the Facebook marketplace to sell some stuff—that attempt didn't last long.

It appears Facebook has become even more devious when harvesting information as when I tried to enter my details, it didn't believe that I was human, despite filling out all the CAPCHAs it threw at me, verifying my email, and entering my date of birth (although I never use a real one). You'd think this was enough, but the final straw came when it decided I still wasn't human and asked me to make a one-minute video of myself while I turned my head through all directions—what?! You must be joking, I felt like a lab rat. Facebook is back in the bin again, it will never be re-animated.

Do people actually do this to get a Facebook account or did it just take a dislike to me?
 
I have never had anything to do with it and nor will I.

Don't have any problems using Facebook. It can be a good source of information, but there are certainly some nutters on it as well.
 
I find a few FB groups interesting and useful, but lately despite trying to control my feed as much as I can, I'm getting loads of completely irrelevant and uninteresting posts put in front of me, so that I am seriously considering deleting my account. I spend more time deleting/hiding/reporting stuff than I do reading posts.
 
Do see a lot of rubbish posted on there but it is worth it me the special interest groups , for me it’s wildlife and nature
I only post on those groups there is some very nice and helpful people in the dragonfly and butterfly groups
I was in some local groups covering things like town matters, traffic,and roads but left as was starting to see some hateful people in there wasn’t worth the time scrolling through those

same here only groups now , most of my "friends" are on whatsapp for fun and giggles without the censorship
however i have created a second ID on my FB account for wandering off a bit and exploring some fun
